The Dialectic

Holy Shit.  I mean, really...Ho. Ly. Shit. Did you click the video up there? Yea? Then you know what I am talking about. So today's entry into Active Bands is The Dialectic out of Dallas Tyler, TX. Tyler?? Hot damn. Sorry. So, anyway, hailing from Tyler, TX, The Dialectic is made up of Mitch Howie on Vocals, Justin Mehan on Bass, Derek Terry on Guitar and Jeremy Alexander on Drums

I have a real weird relationship with Death Metal. In the early 00s, I went through a period of discovery where I was just obsessed with it and ate up every Death Metal band I could get my ears on. These days, I am a lot more picky and there are only a handful of DM bands in my regular rotation. The main reason for that is the vocals. If I can't make out what you're fucking saying, I am going to lose interest. That's just me. While I need to give more time to both their EPs, Mitch seems to strike that right balance of guttural but understandable that I like about singers like Jason Netherton (Dying Fetus, Misery Index) and Guy Kozowyk (Red Chord).

I was going to share a video from their first EP, Alluvion, but then I saw this. It's Mitch from The Dialectic covering Oceano's Weaponized while a baby wanders in the background, making that kid officially the most metal toddler ever. For serious, though, I am two days into this whole Re-DTS thing and have already snagged two bands I genuinely dig. Totally worth it.
